New year, new me.

Ok, so I might be a little late for a post like this.  Everyone else made their new year's resolutions weeks ago-- vowing to lose weight, be a better person, the list goes on.  Beyond Cory and I deciding to try our hardest to save money, I didn't give my resolution a second thought.  Every year I say I'm going to lose weight, and every year I do absolutely nothing about it.
For some reason, as I was sitting feeding a bottle at work yesterday, I decided that I want this year to be different.  I realize that my life, especially my weight, is not going to change as drastically or as quickly as I always imagine it will.  So, baby steps it is.  My first one: giving up fast food.  I eat it probably 2 or 3 times a week, and that's not good.  Not good for my waistline, or my bank account.  I think if I can take this baby step, then it will lead to others.
I am also hoping that by blogging this, people will read it, and I will be held more accountable.  Maybe if I get it out there that I am doing this, I have someone else keeping track of me, instead of just me.  So, any words of encouragement would be appreciated. :)

Next goal: Get a scale.  Put my weight progress on here?  Scary thought, indeed...

  1. Okay Miss Allison-
I will try this again, lol, hopefully I can repeat what my last 'novel' said :). First things first, you are capable of ANYTHING, as long as you BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!! I know you can do it and i have FAITH in you, so believe in yourself!!! I am actually keeping to my 'working out' resolution and I started taking baby steps which is the best thing to do! Recently I purchases a 2 dvd pack from target for only $10 and it has been totally worth it! It's kind of cool because one of the dvds has a 12 minute workout for each day of the week and I know you can do 12 minutes :). If you're interested in it, let me know, and I'll let you know what it is. I also subscribed to Self magazine and Women's Health (each were only $20 for 15-20 issues) and each issue usually has easy/short toning exercises that you could do anywhere. Also, I like to look at the 'fitness' category on pinterest becaue alot of people pin inspiring things from the internet. But most importantly, just believe in yourself miss allison because i know you can do :) miss you LOTS,xoxo

  5. Half the battle is making the commitment to do it! Don't look at the scale- judge by how your clothes fit! Good luck! :-)

  6. Congrats on deciding to start your Journey. You can do this. When I had my "aha" moment last year it seemed scary. I took it one day at a time and have lost 80 lbs. Here is some advice that I have that may help you on your way...
    1. Keep track of your weight. Make a spreadsheet or something to document your progress.
    2. Have a weigh in day that is your "official" weight. Mine is Monday, it keeps me accountable for my weekend splurges.
    3. Do not cut out everything that is "bad" for you. It is all about portion control. If you cut everything out one is more likely to binge on it later. Make small changes. I call them my "small victories". If you make too many changes or too big of changes all at once it will be overwhelming to you. (food and working out)
    4. If you make a mistake (eat bad food, skip work out) accept it and move on. It happened, okay, get back on track.
    5. If a mistake is made do not "start again on Monday". Start again at the next meal or the next day. Why wait?
    6. Find what works for you. Not everything will work with your life style changege. If you can't see yourelf doing it for the rest of your life or find that you are "making yourself" do it...then it is more likely not for you.
    7. You have already done this. Tell all your friends and family what you are doing. They will keep you accountable and also be there to support you. The support is going to get you through frustrating times.
    8. Lastely Ask questions and do research. Find and read everything you can on making a healthy lifestyle for yourself. You will learn a lot and it is all super interesting!
I hope some of this stuff helps. Like I said what works for some may not work for others. You have done the first step, you got this!
